I pretty much hate going to the airport. The cost of parking, the lines, the construction. Ah, the construction. That really drives me nuts. I have lived in the Twin Cities for 23 years now. I have flown in and out of that airport probably almost 100 times (that would be 50 trips, for those numerically challenged of you). I flew for business for a year or so and made about 10 trips during that stretch alone.
What I have noticed is that every time I go to the airport, they are remodeling it. The are never DONE. I've seen this airport grow from the Red, Green, Gold and Blue concourses to about 6 different concourses, they've added parking, a little train thingie, some kind of bus to bring people from long term parking, the underground tunnels to the parking ramps...there is no end to the remodeling they are doing.
I watch that and get ticked off. That's tax dollars at work!! That's also higher airline fees!!
And then I think about God. Here's the cool thing...He is willing to never stop pouring His resources into me as He keeps remodeling me. And He will keep remodeling me for the rest of my life. It's a never-ending process. That doesn't tick me off...I'm grateful for that. But, more awesome than that is the fact that God, in His awesome gracefulness, while He's pouring dollars into me and cementing things and carpeting things and adding parking, He looks at me and says "In my eyes, you're DONE. Because of what my son did. I see you as done and complete." Gnaw on that a bit. While He's carrying forward the work that's been started, He views us as complete because of what Christ did.
Enjoy your next trip to the airport...or down your local highway that is under major construction...or wherever you go that takes you into a hard hat area.
